The fixing matters more than the bracket. Dubai walls are block, concrete and hollow partition in the same room, and a bracket that holds beautifully in one comes out of the other with the television attached.

Doors that stick or slam
Usually hinges that have dropped or a frame that has moved. Planing the door is the last resort, not the first, and a door that catches only in summer is telling you something about humidity rather than the door.

Long rails need fixing into something real at the right centres, or they bow in the middle and pull out at the ends. Blackout blinds in a bedroom are worth doing properly in this climate.

How a handyman visit works
The list is the whole trick. Send it in advance and everything on it can be priced, planned and brought on the van in one go.
If something on your list turns out to need a licensed trade, we will tell you rather than attempt it. Electrical work behind a faceplate and anything inside a wall belongs to somebody qualified for it.

The fixing is the whole job
Nine out of ten handyman failures in Dubai are the same failure. Something heavy was hung on a wall with the plug that came in the box, and the wall was hollow partition rather than block.
A plasterboard wall needs a proper cavity fixing or, better, a bracket that lands on the studs behind it. Block takes a different plug from concrete. A tile face needs drilling on a slow speed with no hammer or it cracks straight across.
None of this is complicated and all of it is the difference between a television that stays up and one that does not. It is also why the answer to "can I just do this myself" is usually yes, right up until the wall turns out to be hollow.

Questions we get asked on the phone
How many jobs can you do in one visit?
As many as fit the time you have booked. Most lists people send are two to three hours of work, and it is far cheaper done that way than as separate call-outs. Send the whole list even if some of it seems trivial. Trivial is exactly what this service is for.
Do you bring the parts and fixings?
Fixings, plugs, brackets and consumables, yes. If a job needs a specific part, a particular lock cylinder or a shelf you have chosen, either buy it in advance or tell us the model and we will source it before the visit rather than leaving mid-job to find one.
Can you mount a TV on any wall?
Almost. What changes is the fixing, and that is decided by what the wall is made of rather than what the bracket came with. Block, concrete and hollow partition all need something different, and a large television on a partition wall may need the bracket landing on the framing behind it. Send a photograph and we will tell you before the visit.
Is there a minimum charge?
There is a minimum visit, which is why bundling the list is worth doing. One job and eight jobs cost very different amounts, but one job twice costs more than eight jobs once.
Will you do electrical or plumbing jobs?
Small ones, yes. Changing a light fitting, a tap washer, a faceplate. Anything inside a wall, anything on a distribution board, and anything that needs testing afterwards goes to the electrician or the plumber instead. We would rather send the right person than have a handyman guess.
Can you come in the evening or at the weekend?
Yes. Most handyman bookings are made for after work or on a Saturday because that is when people are home to point at things, and it costs the same as a weekday morning.
